ENGINEERED WOOD – BOISE CASCADE

McCray Lumber and Millwork is proud to offer engineered wood products from Boise Cascade, a leader in the engineered wood industry. Boise Cascade’s engineered wood products offer builders products with superior strength that are also environmentally friendly.

Boise Cascade’s engineered wood is manufactured by binding strands, particles, fibers and veneers of wood with adhesives to form composite wood materials. This combination results in a product that has greater structural strength and flexibility than traditional wood building materials. This means that in some cases less engineered wood lumber may be required than would typically be required when using traditional dimension lumber for the same project. Engineered wood also has lower moisture content than wood, meaning it will not warp, twist or change shape. And unlike traditional dimension lumber, HVAC, plumbing and electrical can be run through engineered wood joist, allowing for more headroom in the home.

Engineered wood products eliminate much of the waste typically associated with unusable lumber by removing flaws found in traditional wood products, such as knots and inconsistencies. And because engineered wood is manufactured in uniform thicknesses and depths, annoyances such as floor squeaks are reduced.

Because the entire tree is used when manufacturing engineered wood, there is virtually no waste. Between 33% and 50% less wood is used to produce the same amount of engineered wood versus traditional wood, making it an environmentally friendly option. Boise Cascade engineered wood products are also certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), which balances sustainable growth and the harvest of trees with the protection of wildlife, plants, and water and soil quality.

McCray Lumber and Millwork, teamed with Boise Cascade’s engineered wood products, offer you the products you need to build more efficiently and profitably, while also constructing homes and buildings that are environmentally responsible.
