This year marks McCray Lumber and Millwork’s 70th year serving the Kansas City area through expert building products and techniques. As a leading provider in the building industry since 1947, McCray Lumber and Millwork is proud to be a Kansas City construction staple.
McCray Lumber and Millwork began from humble roots in 1947 when the Daniels-McCray Lumber Company was formed. Initially, the business was made up of three locations in the Kansas City area. Those yards were located at 5201 East 9th Street, 48th and Troost, and the Mission lumber yard on the Northeast corner of Johnson Drive and Metcalf. At the time, Metcalf was a simple dirt road just North of Johnson Drive.
Since those beginnings, McCray Lumber and Millwork has expanded and flourished alongside the Kansas City community. Through a number of acquisitions, McCray Lumber and Millwork has grown to be one of the largest and most respected building material dealers in the United States. Notable acquisitions over the years include; Pioneer Millwork (1974), R.L. Sweet Lumber Company (1997), Grand River Lumber Company (2001), Builder’s Resource (2004), and Whelan’s Lumber (2008).
McCray Lumber and Millwork has grown over the past 70 years considerably, more than doubling the initial three yards, and now operates out of seven locations throughout the Kansas City, Lawrence, and Topeka Metro areas. McCray’s industry leading locations can be found in Edwardsville, KS, Lawrence, KS, Olathe, KS, Topeka, KS, Fairfax District, KCK, Liberty, MO, and Kansas City, KS.
While much has changed over the past 70 years, McCray Lumber and Millwork’s passion for excellence has never wavered. By only providing the best, state of the art materials, as well as helping the community through various forms of outreach, McCray Lumber and Millwork has revolutionized the way Kansas City, and the rest of the country, deals building materials.
McCray Lumber and Millwork is proud to have served for the past 70 years, and looks forward to continuing for another 70+ to come.
