McCray Lumber and Millwork is proud to be an active supporter of Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in Kansas City. Habitat Kansas City ReStore is an important piece of the local community, working to better the lives and homes of those who live here. McCray is honored to be a part of the work done by Habitat Kansas City ReStore, and will continue to support the organization in the future.
Founded in June 2000, Habitat Kansas City ReStore is home to both new and used building materials at a deep discount to the general public. These materials, both donated and recycled, give people the opportunity to incorporate these usable products into their home renovations and builds at an affordable price.
Over the course of their many years of being partners, McCray Lumber and Millwork has frequently donated overstock building materials as well as slightly damaged pieces to Habitat Kansas City ReStore in an effort to both help the organization, as well as the surrounding community of home builders and owners.
Habitat Kansas City ReStore believes in the philosophy of “People, Planet and Profit”. This way of doing business means that people can find whatever they need for their building project at Habitat Kansas City ReStore, usable materials are kept out of landfills each day, and the money made through the ReStore sales are transferred to Habitat for Humanity Kansas City to provide local low income families decent, affordable homes.
In addition to providing incredible opportunities to local builders and families restoring and constructing homes, Habitat Kansas City ReStore promotes several green initiatives to help the environment. Along with diverting good materials from taking up space in landfills, ReStore also has a rain garden, utilizes recycled motor oil to heat their warehouse, and more, further adding to their community impact.
