Our History
A Family Tradition in Lumber
McCray family roots in the Kansas City lumber industry date back to the early 1900’s, when Harry B. McCray founded McCray Lumber Company in 1910 near 18th and College Street in Kansas City. The current version of the company dates to 1947 when Harry C. McCray Sr. acquired the three Kansas City locations of the Dascomb-Daniels Lumber Company. Over the years, the company expanded through new locations, acquisitions and services in lumber, millwork and framing to better support builders across the region. Locally and family owned, McCray proudly reflects nearly 80 years of supporting the Kansas City builder community. Today, with the fourth generation of the McCray family actively involved, our focus remains on strong relationships, dependable service and helping builders keep projects on schedule.
